TDP Marches Peoplehood 2022

The Dandelion Project will march in Spiral Q’s Peoplehood Parade on Saturday, October 15 from 12-4:30pm. The parade meets and begins at the Paul Robeson house at 4951 Walnut Street and will conclude in Clark Park. Join us; RSVP below!

Spiral Q describes the Peoplehood Parade as “a unique celebration that allows participants to express their creativity and civic concerns while taking to the streets in order to celebrate our city’s greatest strength: its diversity.” You can learn more here.

TDP is thrilled to join the parade this year to connect with community members and organizations who are doing similar and adjacent work centering and uplifting passion, joy, environmental/social justice, and collective liberation while partnering with young people.

We invite our entire community to join us to spread our message of “seeding change” in our community and world. Some of the ideas we want to “seed,” embolden, and transform in our community include:

  • Trust children

  • Learning is joyful

  • Community care is radical care

  • Process over product

  • Conflict is generative

  • Harm is preventable

  • Access is anti-capitalist

Art Builds:

Community members are invited to join facilitators, Oli and Hannah, at Spiral Q’s community builds on Wednesday October 12 from 5-9pm and/or on Friday, October 14 from 5-9pm.

During the builds, young people and families will have the opportunity to support TDP’s building of a giant dandelion and smaller seed signs OR they’ll have the opportunity to build their own signs and creations for the parade. Art Builds will be happening at Spiral Q’s Studio/ Warehouse at 4247 W. Stiles St. Please bring a water bottle, any snacks you might need, and wear closed toed shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting messy. You can learn more about the builds here.

Community members do not need to attend a build session in order to participate in the parade.

Peoplehood Parade:

Community members are invited to march with us on the day of the parade. We encourage folks to dress in floral and botanical clothing and accessories. Carry one of our sign creations or bring your own. We’ll also have wildseed pac

kets to hand out at the parade. We look forward to joyfully signing, dancing, and marching through West Philly as we move in solidarity towards a better future. The parade meets and begins at noon at the Paul Robeson house at 4951 Walnut Street and will conclude in Clark Park.

Please RSVP to let us know when we can expect you. We really hope you’ll join us :)
